I don’t miss Ekon anymore. Well I do, in that I loved it, and I still love it. But I don’t miss it in the sense that I wish I was there right now. Instead I’ve moved on to appreciating it and what it gave me, and accepting that it will always be a part of me. It helped me figure out who I am and what I value, and it helped me truly learn to love others and to love the world around me. I don’t regret a moment I spent there, or a moment I spent remembering all the wonderful times I had there. It has singlehandedly given me more than any other experience I have had.
I love Ekon - I love Lake Joe, I love Stanley House, I love the monument, I love the deer hut, cord hut, rock hut and bear hut, I love the canoe dock, sailing dock, windyak dock and ski dock, I love the waterfront and the OP beach, I love the MPC, I love the wash huts, I love lower field, I love the dining hall, I love the sung grace at meals, I love singalongs, I love Council Ring, I love Fr. John, Fr. Erik, Fr.s Chris and Gio, I love St. Jean de Brebeuf, I love the Jesuit tradition, I love to look out for the little guy, I love to carry the heavy load.
